Default Ram not eating

Hi, I have a 10g tank and the following are in it:

2 Tetras (one Blueberry and one Black-Skirt)
2 Danios
1 Swordtail
1 Balloon Molly
1 Blue Ram
2 African Dwarf Frogs
1 Snail (that I can find in the tank, the other is really small, and might be dead)
1 Ghost Shrimp

Okay, so I just got the Ram, last night. It hasn't eaten yet, but fish have to adjust usually. I don't know the pH level, but the temperature is around 77-80 degrees.

Thanks,
Tessa.

Leave it for a few more days, because many fish take a few days to acclimate to their new surroundings.

Is it a Bolivian or German Ram? If it is a German (blue) ram, you will need to know your ph. Blues are very sensitive to water conditions and prefer slightly acidic water. If your ph is above a 7.4-7.6 you may have trouble.

It has now been a day and half, is your ram eating yet?

I think I saw it nibbling on a plant. I did a partial water change today. The Ram seems better.

I have the same problem but I have had my Rams for about 8 weeks now. One of the rams seems to be eating no problem. I feed them Soft Food Spirulina. The one Ram loves it but the other does not go after it anymore. I feed my other fish flake food. But that never makes it to the bottom. I might have to start trying something different foods soon. I am worried

Rams need a good protein food too. They are not strickly veggie eaters.
It would be the same as us eating nothing but salad. Try dropping in some shrimp pellets or other sinking protein foods. Or get some frozen Brine shrimp, and they will come up to the top to get their share. Stay away from Blood worms as they could give you problems.

Rams are sensitive to water conditions also. They like very clean water. What is your nitrate value? I don't think adding a blue ram to an already overstocked tank was a good idea. Good luck.

Try getting some type of sinking food...like sinking granules or something. The sinking shrimp pellets SueM mentioned would work. My blue ram picks off the bottom alot. During feeding time she never comes all the way to the top (of the 55g) so I use sinking granules.

Yeah, I was hoping I could get my rams to come to the top for food. I finally picked up some freezedried bloodworms since they dont sink, (for a while at least) my one ram is still not getting food. My wife thinks I am crazy picking up all of this food.
I thought I heard something about them eating veggie matter. Does that mean they would eat cucumbers or something of the like

Not cucumbers, at least I wouldn't do that. I'd chop up lettuce very small and put it in. My Ram doesn't usually go to the top to eat food. I have a sinking pellet for bottom feeders which he loves. But, right now he has Ick. I haven't putten any medication in yet, because I'm going to clean it.

Rams may eat vegetables, I've never tried that though...but I wouldn't feed them just that. Try some sinking pellets or granules. That's what I feed my blue ram. She picks around the bottom alot so I'm sure she eats the sinking food.

Sometimes my Ram even comes to the tank when I'm feeding the flake food. Never really eats it though.

Both of my rams come to the top for flake food. I used to feed them pellets, but now they come to the top, and get more than their share, so I see no need for it.

Rams are Carnivores, they need protein!!!!!
they are not algae eaters!!!
and they need warm temps 80-85.

But don't listen to me, I only breed em.

Rams are omnivores. Which is why most pellets work because they contain both meaty and veggie foods.

Hi Sue,
Why not bloodworms? Is it only for rams? I give my livebearers bloodworms about 2x each week.
