Default I upgraded my snail tank

From a 5 gallon to a 10 (same filter and substrate as was in the 5 gallon so it shouldn't have to do a major cycle). The big ass snail is in there, a few fry (some went to a new home today) and one other teeny tiny apple snail. I'd like to get some fishies in there.........I was thinking a school of neon tetras. How many can I put in a 10 gallon that will ultimately be just one snail and them? The fry will be gone as soon as they are big enough and the teeny snail is going into my frog tank to do some housework. Sure, maybe eventually I'd get some type of bottom feeder (can't seem to help myself).....but I'm not sure about that yet. I think I'd just like an active school of colorful fish.......and neons are small and busy. I don't want to overcrowd the tank since it sets on my kitchen counter and really the focal point to me is the monster snail.

What do you guys think?

I personally am not a big fan of neons in a smaller tank -- I find them to be impressive when in larger numbers than a half dozen. I personally love my cherry barbs - a small group would be nice.

I do think neons like bigger groups...but if you are stuck on them, I think you could get away with 8 if you do weekly water changes. Another option is Harlequin rasboras, if you can get them. They are very active and 6-8 would be fine. They are more active than my neons.

Nah, I'm not stuck on them if its not a good idea to have them in a 10.....I just want some color and activity. So the rasboras or cherry barbs are a better idea?

Oh, and I do do weekly water changes just because of the snail....he's messy. He doesn't cloud the water at all but he poops alot and with the food he eats and all that.....I just feel better doing weekly changes. Also, I'm accustomed to doing them that often on my 30 so its no biggie to do it on the 10 too.
