G'day. As of tomorrow, a few fish will be leaving my 200gal. These are: breeding pair convicts (get waaaaaaaaaaay too aggro when breeding) and 3 africans (looking after them for a mate, finally found them a good home).
This will leave: 2 Oscars Gibbicep and Common Plec Gold Tandanus Cat Salmontail Cat and a Ghost Knife. Now is there much room in my tank for some replacement friends? I was thinking of getting a couple of Royal Whiptails, or another plec (Man i love plecos Thanks all. Daniel |

I think theres room for a few more, but it depends on how big those catfish get cos I ain't even heard of most of those!

If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded: Serrasalmus Tetradon(figure eights and dwarfs are the exception). I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families: Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers. |

I think the salmontail is known as a shark catfish over in the US. They get to like 12", but yeah, they will be relaocated, leaving a ghostie, two oscars, and two plecos. So I do have a bit of room to play with? Nice.
THanks again, Daniel |

I am guessing from the G-Day your from Astraila?
Would be hard for most of us to suggest what you could have as fish as the I know the Laws over there don;t allow most of the fish we have avalable to us. I have two Oscars with a Jack Dempsy and they get alone fine. |

We can get most of the commuinity style fish, and I have been able to find any American Cichlid i have looked for. I guess we arent that restricted, exept for oddities like Pacus, snakeheads etc. Even if they arent on the allowed importation list, they are still available sometimes
So yeah, any suggestions would be good. I was thinking about a JD, but i dont know how they's get along with whiptails? THanks again, Daniel |

I would think they'd be fine if the oscars are fine... they have similar habits, and personalities... (Jacks tend to be less aggressive IME)
