I can barely keep fake plants in my tank because my Oscars love kicking rocks around! My live plant was the first and last one left standing, thankfully!

lol. if you cant make a nice scene with plants, and your oscars knock down rocks, try making some nice aquascaping with rocks and siliconing them together so the oscars cant knock them down

A 55 in the future. I've had a 60gal with beautiful flower horns before so maybe I'll go bigger.

Yeah you should, a 55g is not big enough for an adult oscar. At least a 75. You dont have to upgrade for a few months though. Id say you should upgrade in 3 months, either to a 75 or to a 3-foot tub, then a 75 within the next 5 months or so. O's grow an inch a month.

Wow then I guess my Oscar is growing pretty slow! Maybe I can prolong my tank upgrade. But I plan on only getting a 55 in a few months. I'll see how the 55 goes then if everything goes as planned, I can get a 75.

If I can give a word of advice: Dont get the 55g. Tank setups are expensive, and before you know it, after you have a 55, you wont have the resources to upgrade to a 75. For a temporary upgrade why not have him in a large 3 foot clear tub for a few months? Should cost 15$ all together.
If your O is growing slowly there are a few questions to ask. What is his diet? How often do you feed? and more importantly, what is your water change schedule?
