Question Tanks for cheap?

I am looking for a 20-25g tank to put all of my fish in. I don't really think the 10g is enough space for the fish I have at the moment and I would like a couple more. They are happy, but I'm looking to purchase a tank and can't find anywhere where its less then 70 bucks to purchase one. I don't need any extras with it except maybe a hood for lighting.

Any ideas? Petsmart and Petco don't seem to be helping too much. And the paper doesnt have anyone with tanks except one guy with a 20g that is 60 bucks. Hahaha can't afford it!

try to look at people's garage sale. they have them for cheap. i remember i saw one for sale for $5 and it was a 20 gallon. there was also a 200 gallon tank for sale for $30(yes, with stand, i am not joking), but i just don't have space for that thing. it was a good deal though. plus you can go to your lfs and ask about the used tank. i got a 10 gallon from a lfs for $2.

The Petsmart in my area sells 20g long tanks for about $40...just the tank. And 29g tanks are about the same. You'd still have to buy a filter and heater though, but would be a little over $70 probably.

I think Walmart sells 20g high kits for about $50. Have you checked there?

Aquabid.com and Craigslist.com are great resources.

Well thank you all for you suggestions. I am currently watching the newspaper just in case something pops up. Petsmart in salem still doesnt seem to have aquariums for that cheap and only sells the 10g with no hood, all the rest come with hoods. Oh well though.

hi hate to mention "ebay" on this site, but try doing a search there, narrowing results by your zip code.

The best advice I can give is to take those low prices with an eye of suspician. If someone is selling a 75 gallon tank for 30 bucks, it may or may not hold water. Thats what happened to me once with a guy on craigslist. Too good to be true sometimes is. I find craigslist to be a great, great resource for fishtanks. I've gotten some amazing tanks there. Search the "FREE" Section for Fish tank, Fishtank (One word), Aquarium, etc etc. I once got a 55 gallon tank with stand and some old pumps for free. Actually, he asked for some coors light, but most people are willing to just let you take their large tanks...and the story is the same EVERY TIME..

"Oh, I used to have this big tank...african cichlids...but after I got married and we moved to the house it was too much work"
