ill elaborate, im his friend and ive seen his tank. he put 2 shrimp in a five gallon tank with a few danios and platies. tank has been around for a while so i think the cycle is complete. i think it might be because he didnt float the bag or anything, just dumped the shrimp in there, but im not quite sure.

A 5g tank with a few danios and platies? Inappropriate size for inappropriate fish, IMO. Bamboo shrimp aren't appropriate for a 5g either, as they get quite large. Without water parameters (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates) its hard to figure out what exactly the problem is but I'm guessing not good water quality, along with shock from not acclimating properly.

I agree with Boxermom...danios and platies should be in a tank bigger than a 5g. The water parameters are probably off the hook (i'm assuming). Also bamboo shrimp get about 3-4 inches I think, so definitely need a tank bigger than 5 gallons. A 20g would be much better...or bigger.
