Default Surface dwellers?

Just setup a 30 gallon tall tank. Most of my fish hang out towards the bottom. Are there any fish that will hang out near the top? I don't really care for butterfly fish, but is there anything else that would do well in this tank?

no... actually you are pretty close. livebearer and killifish are not that far away. the only difference is their reproduction method. other than that, they are pretty close to each other. basically guppy, molly and swordtail are livebearing killifish. plus some killifish do live in salt water too, such as gulf killifish. so think a killifish that happen to need salt in water and add a longer lower jar to the fish and fries hatch in their mom, you get halfbeak.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'm gunna get some killies. They're really beautiful fish that I think I've overlooked in the past. Would anyone know if they spend that much time on the surface? I was thinking of getting a few hatchet fish becusae they're right on the surface all the time....but they're kind of lame fish, def not as nice to look at as killies.
