Default Freshwater Substrates & Salt

I'm setting up a 10 gal and using it as an Iso. / Q tank. I'd prefer that it be planted, would like to use a "planted tank" substrate (I'm currently doing gravel in my show tank, but may switch out later if I like the other kind). However, I will treat incoming fish using the salt method in this tank, and I worry that "planted tank" substrates will soak up the salt. I realize FloraBase would probably do this, but is there other media that will work without releasing salt into the water later? Would Echo-Complete work? Am I going to have to stick with gravel?

Thanks.

If you are gonna be using it as a Q-tank you don't need to have gravel
And the plants you could hold down by some weights.
But I am not sure if plants in a Q-tank is smart, I don't know much about plants
But I would think that adding salt, messing with the tamp, chemicals, and everything else would be harsh on the plants.
A few clay pots for hiding places and a few fakeplants would work good

QT tanks are best as bare tanks, no substrate and no plants, or if you must, use artificial ones that can be cleaned and/or tossed. I wouldn't recommend treating all incoming fish with salt or anything else unless you actually start seeing a disease, parasite or other problem that needs to be treated.
