Hi,
I have a 55g community tank, with 2 angelfish (had 4 at one time, one got hole in the head, and one got attacked), 4 mixed fruit tetras, 2 gouramis, 2 cories, a small pleco, small rainbow shark, 4 danios, and 2 lamp eye tetras. As I come to find out, the reason I think my one angel got attacked by the other is because I think I had 2 males and 1 female - the female just laid about 50-100 little eggs to my surprise! Now the question - what the heck do I do now? What is the easiest way to get some to survive? Have done some reading and lots of folks recommend baby brine shrimp, but I just don't think I have the time to do what it takes to go this route - suggestions? By the way, it is really cool watching the parents take care of the eggs! |

Most angels screw up their first few times breeding... IF they do successfully get fry, you gotta get setup in a hurry. Baby Brine is a nutritous food, and I think there is also a type of live "worm" that you can also get, but I can't for the life of me remember what they are called. maybe Microworms???? anyway, one of my friends has a huge angel breeding operation and she uses mostly these worms since they are easier to culture, not that brine shrimp are hard.
BTW, just a comment that you might want to know, your "Berry Tetras" are actually White Skirt tetras that have been subjected to injection with Dyes. I would highly suggest not buying any more of these since a great deal of them die in the process AND the dye usually wears off in time. Also your one angelfish could vary well be picked on just for being and angelfish. Once a pair has been established the odd man out should always be removed.

Well having a breeding pair of angels in a community tank is VERY bad. The angels will probbable end up killing all your other fish. If the fry hatch, they will feed of the parents slime coat for about 3 weeks then you need to goet the fry into another tank and feed them baby brine shrimp or FINLY FINLY crushed flake food. Many people say the abbies cnat eat the flake food but my angel fry allways can after they are done eating slime coat
