If you go with Dwarf cories, do them a favor and get 6. I've read they, unlike most cories, do better in larger groups and while 3 would be ok, they wouldn't be happy IMO. They only get around an inch so adding 6 wouldn't hurt much at all IMO. I don't see dwarf cories in LFS often, but the 3 common types are C. pygmaeus (the Pygmy cory), C. habrosus (also called Salt and Pepper cories, and C. hastatus. See if your LFS can order any of them, as they all stay under 1.5 inches.

most cories would be fine in a group of 3 or 4 IMO. i have 4 in my ten gallon and their always very active, and eat just about anything.
