Exclamation Can anyone answer this?

Ok. I have 3 albino cories and 3 green cories

One of my green cories just turned white. Like a silvery white. His whole body to. And just today.

The water peramaters are normal, did a water change about 3 days ago.

I have live plants, just added some new grass but thats about it.

Havent changed food or the amount given (I guess I give a bit less)

The chemicals I add to the tank are calcium, liquid plant food, and some conditioner to make the water clear (water clarifier is the only new thing but started using that about 3 weeks ago)

Does anyone have an answer? My cories I used to have a while ago one of them did sorta the same thing. He was spotted and started losing his spots and turning light in color. No one had answers then.

Any insight???

I've heard that fish can do that when under stress.

By any chance are you leaving the lights on all the time?
Is the gravel/sand white?
Are the fish acting differently?

My guess is that the waterchange 3 days ago is finally catching up to you, and that something went a bit wrong that time.

i never add chemicals in my aquariums anymore, but i did add a clarifier once. it didn't seem to affect them. White gravel doesn't cause my Cories to loose color, mine are very vibrant. My first guess would be the chemicals, calcium, or plant food in to high amounts.

you need to watch plant foods, cause when i used some when i had live plants the plant food would kill my fish off one by one,

The amount of dissolved organics, unless grossly overdone(10x+) with plant fertilizer, is not even close to the amount found in nature. Unless you were adding tons of nitrAte for your plants, the other micros and macros are pretty fish safe even in large concentrations.

Well...it has happened. I guess you were right with something, because I found him dead the next day. I haven't had him for that long, so I am not in too much turmoil, but I definately dont want to lose anymore.

Does anyone have any suggestions? How about...specific brands of plant food that I could find at Petsmart that would be good for a moderately planted 29g and how much to add. As well as, how much calcium I should add to keep my snails shells hard (they arent looking so good). And I can stop using the clarifier, if you think that would help.

Thank you!

Personally I like the Seachem Flourish line myself and I dose PO4 and KN03 seperately.

The Flourish line should be able to be found at petsmart I think.

For calcium for your snail shells you can put a little bit of crushed coral in your filter and it will provide that for ya.

Hope it helps!
