Same problem here.
The short of it: too much phosphates How to fix it? Well, for starters try to scrub off as much as you can. Feed less. Personally, since I have a brackish set-up with a crab in there, I don't think I can go around the feeding issue. I drop a piece of lettuce, a pea, some raw shrimp, whatever. It won't get eaten and sit there overnight. So I decided to buy some API phosphate remover called Phos-Zorb. It's a granule product which you add to your AC filter pad. Hagen also used to make bags of a similar product that looked like teabags called Green-X. They are now called Phos-X but good luck finding some reasonably priced or in stores. I looked all over, only found it on marinedepot.com and Amazon but for that price I ended up buying a much bigger container of Phos-Zorb. People have had luch with these products, but they're just a band-aid. |
