This is my 10 gallon.
It has 3 neon Tetras, A pictus Cat, and 1 male Betta

I like the sand for a couple of reasons, for one the waste sits right on top of the
sand, so its very obvious when I need to clean it. And it looks great when its clean. I am thinking about changing it though, I want a good planted tank and the sand doesn't hold any nutrients.
