Question What to do...

I got an eclipse system 3 tank from a family that's moving away. It doesn't have the light cover (or do they not come with one? You know the piece of glass.) So I deiced not to use it for safety. The tank is in a room that's brightly lit from windows already, and I can always put a lamp next to it IKEA has some nice desklamps that would work perfectly!

So I was debating, should I use it as a quarantine tank, or should I make it a 'real' tank? I already have a QT that works fine, so I was thinking it should be a 'real' tank.

The other thing is. I could set it up, then give it to my sister who is going to university in the fall. So she could have fish. But I'm not sure she wants them herself. One of my dwarf puffers is hers, but it's in my tank. So I could set it up for Popcorn the Evil Murderous Dwarf Puffer of Doom! (That it’s full name )

Assuming I don't do that. What other fish should I do? I know it's limited, since it's small. So nothing big (like an angelfish,) or that swims a lot (like a danio.) I know I could do some guppies, but I'm hoping for a more 'different' idea.

Any ideas?

What size is it? What's the point of setting it up for your sister if it's going to have to be moved. I don't see that as being good.

IMHO it shoudl be set up to be permanent, stocked appropriately.

It's three gallons, but looks bigger (which is nice.)

She'd be moving about 3 hours away, so it could easily be moved. It would be stocked properly, as well as planted. I would just be doing for her as a moving away from home present. I'm not she's going to want it (she's away right now, and I don't want to bother her with the question without her seeing the tank.)

She's not as big a fishy person as I am (she likes them a lot as well, but doesn't post in forums online:P), but she could easily learn how to take care of it. And when I visit I could do anything 'major' that needs to be done. It would be nice for Popcorn the Evil Murderous Puffer of Doom to be able to help her 'relax'.

Moving it wouldn't be a problem for me. I've moved fish 700 miles before (with no fatalities) this would only be 150.

So, in your opinion, how would I stock it appropriately?

I personally would say endlers,, or Micropoecilia picta,, both are small livebearers.
and are very cool, endlers are more flashy in the colour department

Hmmm... good ideas. I might do that, if I can find them locally, since i don't want to deal with/pay shipping!

I would go for a colony of cherry shrimp. They are lovely red shrimp and will breed readily.
