I couldn't get my balloon lyretail mollies to spawn, I couldn't tell male from female but with four of them you'd guess theres at least one of each

ok well thats sort of bad luck i suppose. i just bought 2 at random and a month later i wake up to tiny little fry in my tank
there is a thread on the livebearers thread which will show you how to tell them appart |
