Default Algae Problem

Hi there..

I wonder if you can help..
For the past maybe 4/5 weeks, the water in my tank has been a murky green.. There is no algae on the glass or anything like that. However, I am having to change my filter weekly, due to the brown algae/dirt in there..

Pet shops have told me to put iodized salt in the tank weekly - not working, they have suggested a 60% water change - didnt work, last week, I finally got 2 algae eaters to see if that could help the problem - it didn't..

Its a 2 foot tank.. got 9 neons, one cory, 2 algae eaters..
corner filter, heat is usually between 25-27 degrees celcius.

Because of the algae problem, I havent been puting the tank light on, for fear of it getting worse..

Any suggestions would be HUGELY appreciated!

Thanks a mill..

Sam

Greenwater is usually associated with too much sunlight, overfeeding, and poor filtration, or a combination of all 3 but usually due to excessive light. Brown algae is common in newly setup aquariums and deals with too many nutrients in the water, high silicates in the water (usually from tap), and or low lighting, and poor waterflow.
