Default Question about my 120 Gallon stand

okay i got this all black all wood stand. now its the same size of my tank. its 24"x48". the top rim of the tank is were the tank sits on top of. when i looked in side the stand this is what i see. look at pics
now what i question is the out side rim of the stand is only being held up by about a half inch of the inner wall of the stand. will this type of stand ever fail?

Your pics and description are kinda confusing. Any stand has a chance of failing.

if you look at the first pic you can see from the inside were the tank sits that it sits on the out side rim of the stand. im trying to find out if thats okay were it sits. i mean the stand is made for this tank so

if the stand is made fo rthe stand, i don't see why it wouldn't work. if you wanted, yoiu could always make revisions to it. add 2 x 4's or something to the bottem of it to help support the tank.

If I remember correctly you recently purchased this set up... what does the seller have to say about it? Why were they selling? Have they ever had any problems?

And if my memory is wrong.... Whoops

no your right. i just got it. the seller said its made for it and he used it for 3 months. i paid $150 for the whole set up and sold my 75 for the same amount. so i broke even. the seller got a 72 bow front so thats why he sold it. i got it off of craigslist.

You might wanna fill it and watch for leaks before you begin to stock the tank. I had a question just like this and ended up buying a bigger stand to be on the safe side. I wouldn't take my advice and run with it seeing how you have a 120gal and I have a 46. haha

To be on the safe side, like davedudeman said, let the tank sit with water for a while and see how it holds up. Make sure there are no leaks in the tank but also that the stand doesn't warp or anything under the pressure.

The first picture is a shot from inside the stand, right? Is it only held together with staples?

NO the first pic as well as the second is underneather he tank were it sits on the stand. the stand is made for this tank. what im asking is the way the tank sits onto the stand looks like theres no support for the tank. the tank is the common stand. here is a pic to see the stand. it has the bottom rim and top rim then in between has the v groof wood. inside the stand were the tank sits it looks like the stand has no support. its up and running now and is fine. knock on wood. but the seller says its the stand thats made for this tank is and will hold the weight. see pic to see the stand. then you should know what i mean.

Looks like the stand I have...like identical. I bought mine used from a guy and I saw the same setup at Petsmart.....My 150 sits on it and I've had it for a couple years no. No problems.
