Unhappy 0 Ammonia & 1 less albino cory

What else could have gone wrong here? I think he was sick or something because they are eating fine and today when I was getting ready to go to school I turned the light on and found him dead. I tested the water with my strip but they are worthless. Today I went to a petstore in Washington and they are great. I got an ammonia kit thinking it was the ammonia that was starting to affect the fish. Turns out I have 0ppm. I was going to buy the whole kit but they were sold out and they will have them by Thursday. So what else can I do before Thursday? Is there anything I can do? I feed them and they all gorge themselves.

In case of death, I usually change water, "just in case". Usually the fish dies, and then the ammonia spikes, followed by nitrite. Cories are kind of like canaries in mines, they die first when anything is out of whack. High nitrates, falling pH, stuff like that. Check all your filters for flow, check the temp. Like people, fish do occasionally drop dead or die of trauma or poisoning (some algae is toxic). But don't ignore a second death or any other sign of trouble.

Today I am doing a 20% water change. I will be keeping everything in check though. I don't want any more mortalities. Everybody else looks fine today I will do an ammonia check again today and see how things are going.
