Default stocking a 15.

in a standard 15 gallon [2 ft x 1 ft x 1 ft] would six skirt tetras plus 3-5 glowlights plus a couple of oto's be serious overstocking? i would be willing to do partial water changes once a week if need be. there's an aquaclear 30 running on it.

i dont think that would be over stocked but maybe wait untill you have some algae build up to get the otos

Those skirt tetras get pretty big and like to divide the tank up.-- mine are 4 years old and are about 2 inches long as well as high.
Glos can grow to about 1 1/2 inches as well.
Do you have a 15 gallon long?
or is it more of a cube? As i say the skirts do like their own territory . I have 6 in a 20 gallon well as 2 Sae's and 1 danio and it looks plenty crowded.

it's a long 15, i believe. in terms of comparison, it's 4 inches shorter than a 20 high, and 8 SQUARE inches larger than the standard 10 gallon.

if it is a long tank it might be ok as the skirts are mostly in the mid range of then water.
Don't forget to feed the ottos some algae tabs as there will notbe enough algae in the tank for some time. I keep only 1 otto in my 15 .Once they get the algae under control it looks like slim pickings.
