ISO Hartz aquarium hood Bulb Assembly
Hi, I have an older Hartz aquarium reflector hood with a broken bulb assembly. The switch snapped off sometime while in storage at my sister's house. I even tried brand new bulbs but they won't turn on without a switch. So I called Hartz in hopes they have a new part but they haven't supported those aquariums in years, the man said. As for eBay, someone from Kentucky is selling 15-20 gallon hoods for $1 or so +$15 shipping. I wrote them and described how to remove the bulb assembly and that I'd pay them $5 for it if they ship it to me for much less than $15.
I have a 10-gallon tank, and my young goldfish are going to need a larger tank after the Winter. I want to buy a floating plant just as they had in the Summer in their small fountain, but I need to get a hood that accepts those longer lights that are for promoting plant growth. Does anyone have any suggestions for me on buying a new bulb assembly or hood? New hoods for these tanks for like $30 at PetSmart and that's too much money considering the plant bulbs are like $12, coming to about $45 with tax.
Thanks for anyone who can offer some advice.
