Default Whats your secret?

Whats the secret to feeding messy frozen foods? I like Beefheart and bloodworms because they offer my fish lots of protein, and they love it. But I HATE the mess they make. I defrost a block and toss it in the tank, and i was wondering, is there a "cleaner" way to do it? maybe some sort of dispenser my fish can pick at?

i use one of those floating triangle things.. sorry i dont know the technical term of it. it just hooks to the side of the tank and is either a circle or triangular thing and it just floats. you put the food inside that and the fish can grab the worms from it. it also keeps all the food in a general area.

I feed frozen food with a plastic pipette. That way, I just get the worms or shrimp and not all the liquid. Granted, some liquid does get in the tank (i don't strain them), but not like it would if I dumped the whole thing in.

They don't seem messy to me....maybe its the way I feed them. The only frozen foods I feed though are brine shrimp and bloodworms. I just put them in a small bowl with tank water to defrost...takes about 5 mins.

I dump them in a brine net, and wash em with water.

for bloodworms: i put the cube in a cup of warm water, and take a pair of tweezers that i specially reserved for this, and i pluck the worms out, and drop them near my fish. they love 'em.

I dont find them messy but my biggest problem is defrosting a whole cube. I usually buy the flat packs (or small cubes when I find them). Or I make my own mix and I bought tiny ice cube trays for them. Freeze them, seperate them and put the in baggies for feeding. Most of my fish are small (under 5 inches) and it doesn't take a lot to feed all of them.

I feed frozen krill and blood worms to my fishes.

For bloodworms, I break a piece off of the chunk, and defrost them in worm water. I then sucks them up with an eye dropper and squirt a few in the water at a time. I then wait for the ones that I squirted into the water to be eaten before I squirt any more in. NO MESS!!!

For the krill, I defrost them in water, then take an eye dropper, and suck up all of the eyes that have fallen off, and feed them to my fish the same way I do the bloodworms. Then, for the whole krill, I take one or 2 out of the water with my fingers, normally one, and break it up into little pieces, and throw it into the tanks. I only use one for all of my tanks, because of the amonia, but they only get one or 2 krills per week. But for my turtles, I just throw a piece of the block into their tank/pond and let it melt in there while they eat it.

Thanks guys. I
obviously knew how to defrost, etc., and I was looking for something like the first two posts, which I will try. Fishheads, where did you buy yours?
