What should I stock with my dojo? I wanted some bottom feeders or will the dojo loach take care of the bottom? because if he/she will then I can probably get my betta tomorrow, what about my black skirts? Can I leave them in and get four more?

I wouldn't suggest a Dojo for a 20g. Sorry Beks! They just get way to big and I don't think they'd be comfortable in a 20g. I've heard that they freak out when the barometric pressure changes (hence the name Weather Loach) and I can't see an 8" loach going crazy in a tank as small as 20g.

Cories would be a much better choice IMO. If the tank was like 40g, I'd say go for it on the loach.

Cherry barbs can be kinda shy. They don't school like other schooling fish do, so its fine to keep them in groups of 3-4, just have a couple females per male. Mine like to hide in my plants alot and kinda keep to themselves.

As far as the cories go, I like Pandas the best (from your list). They are the cutest. But, get what you like. False Juliis (I doubt they are true Juliis) are nice too and I had a group of them before. They are out alot and don't hide as much as some cories. The Albinos are really active too and stand out when you have a dark substrate.

The Pandas and False Juliis will stay the smallest, at right around 2", maybe a tad bigger.

You know I was starting to think about that when I arrived at work an hour ago.
Twenty would be the ABSOLUTE minimum for one if you buy him super small, so now that I think about it, twenty is a bad idea.

Thanks for the catch, Girl!

Also: I wasnt sure what size the dojo loaches at your LFS are, so if they are over 6 or 7 inches, I most definitely wouldnt have reccomended them, but still, a mess up on my part! I'll stick to the facts next time. Sorry again! <3

That explains why they cost so much!!
DOI!!!!!!!!

I should have asked how big they were!
I'd never reccomend a ten inch fish to someone for a 20 g.

I have heard that bettas will steal the cories algae wafers, how can I stop that? Also I have read that they like zuchinni. What do I feed cherry barbs? Big als gave me a staple flake diet, will that be okay for my betta and cherry barbs?

Cherry barbs love bloodworms, or at least mine do. Mine are not very shy either. I have 2 males and 3 females in a 20 gallon tank. I really enjoy them. I also feed them shrimp pellets and use flakes as their staple. They also eat algae wafers. Really they will try anything you put in there. To reduce thievery you can either put in more than one algae wafer (one for the cories and one for the betta) or you can break the wafer into pieces. Thats what I have to do for my danio tank. I have one girl in there who is just a hog! I will break it up into 4 pieces and put them in different parts of the tank. She will try very hard to defend all 4 of them! But she fails and between being bombarded by her the other fish get to eat the flakes, ultimately I think she looses out because shes so busy defending them she never gets to eat them LOL. After a while she leaves everything alone and then my oto's can get some of it. So even if thievery is happening unless they literally sit and eat the whole wafer all at once the cories will be able to eat it too. I always scatter the sinking food in both tanks this way. There is just much less fighting over it.
