I would turn the tank and room lights out when you add the tetras or rasboras. That should be less stressful for them and the Betta. If he starts chasing them when you add them, you could feed him to distract him.

I think even if you take him out, he's going to get curious about them when you put him back in, so that won't be any better IMO.

First of all, great job on the tank...looking very good there!

As far as introducing the rasboras, I would do as JustOneMore20 said and keep the lights out after you introduce them. I have mine on a timer, which can be kind of a pain to adjust, so whenever I introduce new fish, I will usually let them float in the bag for a while, both to acclimate the temperature and to get them used to the other fish in the tank and vice versa. Then, right before releasing the new fish, I feed the current inhabitants.

As has already been said, the harlequins are much faster than the betta (regardless of how fast he is), so even if he doesn't take to them, they'll be able to escape without much trouble.

Ok sounds good. One obvious thing I forgot to ask...

What kind of food do I get for the other fish? And if it floats too, do I feed them and the betta at the same time? Will they fight over each others food even though it is different?

Toss um in and if there is a problem then pull him out and move all the decorations around, then put him back. Chances are there will not be a problem though, so you have little to worry about. When you move the decorations around they think it is a new place

The Harlies will eat flakes, pellets, frozen foods most things that the betta will. I'd get either a tropical flake or some tropical fish pellets (small ones) as their staple food. Frozen foods can be treats for both. You may have to feed the Harlies first on one side of the tank (because they are faster) and then feed the Betta.

I wasn't aware of switching foods. I have always fed him betta bits pellets and he always gobbles them right up so I guess he likes em. I give him 3 pellets twice a day. So are you sayin that the harlies will eat those too? Or just get flakes for them and keep giving the betta the pellets?

It is good to vary the diet, so feed a number of different foods, just like you do for yourself (I hope
