weird floaty stuff.

for the past few days, there's been strange stuff floating in my water, all over. i think it's sort of greenwater? but i'm not sure. i was away from my tank for four days, and i cut the lighting to only 5 hrs on, because i wouldn't be there to deal with the impending algal DOOM.

anyway, when i got back, i noticed there is so much very fine, white stuff floating around. it looks like specks of dust, and there are MILLIONS of them. some stuck to the glass, so now the front has tons of tiny, fine, white strand/specks. i can't get a good picture. does anyone know what the heck this is?

for reference, it is a planted 15 gallon tank, with no co2 (my diy reactor isn't working, i'm looking for a new bottle) and with high lighting....3.6 wpg.

Are any plants sticking up out of the water?

I had this once, and I resolved the issue rather quickly with a diatom filter. I suppose that if you do 30% water changes daily for 5 days you will be fine.
