I want to put some real driftwood in my tank and have heard that you are supposed to rinse out the driftwood for 2 weeks changing the water every day. The driftwood I will get would not likely be more than 10" long.
I will put the driftwood in a bucket and change the water in it everyday but my question is do I treat the new water in the driftwood bucket with my water conditioner like aqua plus or seachem's prime or do I just use ordinary unconditioned tap water?

no need to treat the bucket water. In fact the chlorine in tap water might even be a good thing..and kill off tiny bugs or algaes on the wood. I dunno.

honestly if you get it from a pet store that has it already soaking in the water, and the water isn't brown, you can just throw it right into your tank. that's what i did with the driftwood i got at the old petc0 where i worked.

I have carbon in the filter but I am pretty sure you are still supposed to soak it for at least a week depending on the size.
Thanks

The reason for soaking it is to 1) have it release tannins before going into the tank so you can try to avoid yellow water and 2) to waterlog the wood so that it sinks (if its not naturally sinking wood like Malasian). If its wood from the lfs/pet store, you most likely don't have to treat it with anything. If its something you or someone found outside somewhere, giving it a good scrub under hot water and soaking for a while can be good for it.
If you get some Malaysian wood from the LFS, soak it for a week to remove tannins or put some carbon in the filter and enjoy the wood after giving it a quick rinse.

There is no reason to soak unless it wont sink....and if you are really scared of tannins that really make little difference if you use carbon
