Ok so I have two rainbows, both are in 55 gl tanks. The one rainbow is in their with 1 bala, 1 dragon fish, 5 neons. The other rainbow has two clown loches with it and that is all. The rainbows are not together since the bigger one was chasing the small one to death.
The first rainbow fish that is in with the bala, etc is growing like a monster. He likes to stay in one of the castles most of the time but when he was out swimming last night I was shocked to see how big he is getting. But the other rainbow has changed very little. He eats the same as the other one and for now the 55 should be giving him enough room for now. The fish setup is kind of odd right now since due to a ick outbreak and my work life being nuts I have not had a chance to fix it or anything. I am selling my 65 hex later this month and will be getting a 125 gl so please I know it will pain you but don't point out that my tanks are to small ok? |

Could be a small age differance between the two and the other one will get a growth spurt here shortly or it could be the differance between a male and a female.

...but I do
Great that you have noticed that the tanks are way too small. Even a 125g is thight for the bala, are you going to keep it? The tigers need a proper group, maybe 4-5 tigers into the 125g?Or maybe too much.. Neons need way cooler water than tigers by the way. Rainbows usually don't do well together, but you have solved the problem already. Good luck with your tanks!

yes the bala needs a larger tank.... forgot about that. 2 clown loaches are fine in a 55G, mine are thriving, granted when they get full grown they will need a bigger tank. As far as your stocking goes it seems fine for now.
My rainbow just recently took a growth spurt... I wouldnt worry about it.
