Question Nitrite

Is nitrite caused by tap water?

Nathan, I just told you this in that other thread. Nitrite is the bacterial waste from processing ammonia.

If you can, post a single thread in the general forum to answer your questions rather then starting a dozen threads. It will keep everything more orderly, and keep people from repeating themselves.

if I were in your shoes man, I would try and organize your current stock of fish correctly before adding any new ones. It seems you aren't too sure what you do have or what you are honestly doing. I could be completely wrong, but judging by your posts, you are fairly new to this?

i am not trying to be mean or anything, but research as much as possible before you consider buying any more fish. I learned the hard way and asking questions here and talking with others that have more experience is always a good thing. It's a good feeling getting new fish and setting up new tanks, but you don't want to rush it at all.

Nathan, if you are serious about what you are looking at doing, then at a bare minimum read up about the "Nitrogen Cycle" AKA "Cycling a Fishtank." If you read up on those topics you will understand what ammonia nitrite and nitrate are and how they come to be.
