I would not get another betta, and you do want to do a cycle... although some people change the water enough to never go through a true cycle. (20% every couple days)

the 2.5 G has been running for a day now, would it be ok to add the fish, and what is wrong with getting a second betta?

well bettas tend to flare at eachother all the time if they can see eachother, sometimes that can stress them out to a point they wont do well. A day is not going to be cycled. It may take your tank a week or two... you need to add an ammonia source though, I would go with pure ammonia or a piece of raw cocktail shrimp

Its really difficult to cycle a tank that small (some say it isn't possible). If you change 1 gallon of water a week, you could have your bettas in the bowl. Clean water is the key.

i always change my betta bowl every week, but this aquarium has a filter so i might start changeing it every every week and a half.

i dont think that puting two bettas together will stress them, i put a mirror up to my betta's bowl, and all he dose is flares at it once and swims away, it dosent seem to bother him.

here is a pic of the tank

okay... but dont say I didn't warn you. Plus if you ask me 2.5 gallons isn't much for any fish, much less 2 betas...

i dont recomend the 2 bettas. and if ur not going to listen ur going to be sorry. 2.5 gallons is too small anyways.
FishFirst: she can't add ammonia if theres a fish already in it!

2.5 is fine .... IF you don't over feed them and keep doing your water changes, If you go with 2, do more not less, i'd do 2 a week, at least 50%.

Keep your water out in a jug ready for use and only feed em every 2-3 days.

And remember, a fishes stomach is roughly the same size as its eye .... feed accordingly.
