Default question about ammonia.

I am currently in a cycle with fish. Its going pretty well, besides the 5 fish i had lost already (my mistake), but now its going threw an ammonia spike and i wanted to know if it would be okay to use ammo lock with the cycle, or will doing that get the cycling period no where? I'm going to perform a 30% water change later on, but was just woundering this as well.

Locks up toxic ammonia produced by decomposing plants, algae, fish waste, dead fish, and uneaten food. Ammonia is converted to a non-toxic form to eliminate ammonia-related fish stress while biological filtration further breaks it down into nitrite and then nitrate.
If it does what is says it does, then it is a good precaution and won't hurt your cycle. I recommend Prime for this purpose, but it looks like this should do the same.
