Thumbs up New place, new tank, bigger is better!

I'm getting a new place tommarow(awsome)! Anyways, a friend of mine is buying me a fifty-five gallon tank for the new place, I know all about the cycling process and all that. I'm still a novice at fish keeping even though i have been doing it for the past few years, water chemistry and things in that area are not a problem for me. I still do appriciate input on stocking ideas and tips as well as planting and decor ideas. Its a used tank but in good condition only a couple years old. I dont know exactlly what light is in the hood but i know its a Power glo(or something like that) and its 40 watts, dont know anything else but that about it. Comes with a 300 watt heater, I know thats good, also comes with a canister filter (which is nice because if it had came with a HOB I would have up-graded it regardless. I'm not exactlly sure what brand it is, but I do know its a good one and plenty big enough for the fifty-five gal. I'll hopefully have some pics of it when i start setting it up, just to give everyone a visuall. I will also post pics when i start stocking it.
I always appriciate comments and suggestions about stocking and landscaping. I also like to hear about experiances people have had with various fish. I still have absolutly no idea about what i want to have in the tank, so any suggestions about what i could put in there would be awsome. I was thinking about medium to smaller fish, that way its a bit more bussy and stimulating to look at. I know i'm going to have my Gibby pleco in there, becasue right now its in a twenty gallon tall and has out-grown the tank drastically, I also feel bad because i have kept him in that tank for over two years now. Mr.Gibby will be the only pleco in the tank because of his agression t'word food. Just any general ideas about what plants and diffrent types of fish i could put in there would be welcome.

Jacob
