Has anyone kept Medaka(japanese rice fish)? We're raising these in bio and my teacher apparently gives out the fry when we hatch them. With the stress this lab is putting on them, I don't expect them to live very long and I'm not even sure if they will live at all.
On the off chance that I get some survivors, I have a cycling 10 gallon that would be ready. Any advice on keeping these fish?

Just so you have something from someone:
I have no idea what a Medaka might be. I am trusting you that it is an aquatic animal, most likely a fish. Now I could do a search so I do know what a Medaka might be. Though even if I chose this course of action, I could not help you in your quest as I would likely be obtaining the same information you could find yourself on the web. Edit: Research states they are very hardy and can live through about anything. They even spawned and hatched healthy fry in space.

OK I know what you are talking about. I have seen them in my home room. She is a biology teacher as well. They are actually having them in a cut off 2 liter bottle with gravel and the other half with dirt and a plant. I found this very crude to the fish. I told her she doesn't need to do that. But you know as a teacher she thinks she is smarter then a 16 year old. But I am going to take them ASAP and put them in my 10 gallon. Now what they eat I am still figuring this out as I am sure you are. Well hope it turns out good for you too.

When I googled them wikipedia said they were also called "japanese killifish" and they look like killies to me. But they aren't in the same family. Try frozen bloodworms.

ok, well I guess I'll give them a go if they don't kick the bucket. I'm going to get them as fry so I'll try fry food till they're big enough to except other types of food.
Thanks to everyone for there help and if anyone else has any information, that'd be great

Seem to be a fish they use to study things, so it can be too difficult to keep them.
