Default the basics...teach me

i do my water changes once aweek, 5 gal on 10gal, and 15 gal on 55

when should i feed my fish ive been doing it twice a day

how about blood worms, and fresh fruits/veggies?

how long should i leave my tanks lights on?

i want to buy a backround for my 55, should i also do the sides to?

does anyone know about underwater lights?

what other kinds of fish could i add? i was thinking ghost shrimp, just a couple of them?
any other good bottom feeder?

Water change schedule looks good.

Once or twice a day is fine. More they eat, the more waste they produce. I personally feed my fish every other day, but thats my choice. Anywhere from twice a day to every 3 days would be fine IMO for most fish.

Bloodworms can be used for the fish you have. I wouldn't feed those exclusively, but alternating them between flake and/or pellet food would be fine. Maybe do bloodworms every 3rd feeding or something. Most of my fish get frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp strictly as treats (maybe once every couple weeks) just because I don't have time to feed them all the time. My new apistos aren't too keen on flake or pellets though, so they may be getting frozen food more often.

Your pleco will enjoy fresh veggies. I've only fed cucumber and zucchini. Other people may be able to give you more suggestions. Some of your other fish may or may not eat veggies. I would feed them maybe once or twice a week.

I would leave them on about 8-10 hours a day.

You don't have to cover the sides unless you just want to.

Ghost shrimp may get eaten by the Platies....or maybe even the pleco. I would add more mid-water fish. You have room for another school. For the bottom, you want something large enough that the pleco won't hurt them. Loaches come to mind. Some of the ones that would be fine in a 55g are Zebra, Yoyo, and Polka Dot Loaches. I'd be hesitant to add Cories to a tank with a 6" and growing pleco.

Most people don't need an extra aerator if you have enough flow with filters. If you have 2 filters, I'm sure you have enough oxygenation and flow.

Save your money.
