When I looked in my tank I noticed brown fluffy stuff at the bottom of the tank on top of the gravel. I turned the light on and the fluffy stuff is actually white. Its a 5 gallon filterd tank with one fake plant and one betta. When i saw the stuff i took the betta out and put him in my empty 14 gallon. Can any tell me what this stuff is?

fluffy white stuff is usually fungus. It grows on decaying stuff. Dead plants, uneaten food, etc. Siphon it out and change water. Decaying stuff can also lead to poor water quality.
