Default Traveling with fish. Need advise so they stay alive

So next weekend i will be traveling back home from school for approximately a month. Now it is about a 6 hour drive and is fairly straight and flat. I have the two tanks below and nothing has changed. the smaller tank is a oval all plastic tank with no real seals and the other is your typical 10g glass tank. So the first time i took the 10g home i lowered the water to about 1/3 and paced the tank in the box in came in. I then surrounded it in towels so it was nice and snug behind the passenger seat. It made it home with no dead fish. Now I am doing it again with both tanks and want to be sure nothing goes wrong. I want to if passable keep the fish in the tanks because of lack of room in the car. It is a crown vic, but he have our stuff two. So i had asked my LFS owner who is very smart in his trade and his worry would be the seal breaking from water sloshing. He advised i put the fish in a cooler with a battery powered bubbler. Then lower the water in the tank to about the rocks to keep the bacteria and plants alive. Now i have the two newts who love to escape and I have the shrimp who i don't want to hurt. So please give me all the advise and tips you can. Any ideas please. I care a lot for my fish and i dont want any harm to come of them, but i have no housing here for a month so they cant stay in the empty dorm room. thank you very much in advance.

I'd bag the fish just like you get them from the store...........1/3 water and 2/3 air..then I'd put them in a cooler to maintain temp.
shrimp, I'd do the same.
I'd remove the big rocks from the tank, so they don't break it if they shift.. Don't know about the newts,, though.

yup it's easy to transport fish. just like shipping fish in mail fish can stay in bags for 3-5 days. Though wouldn't recommend this unless a expert at shipping

Yah, beg a few bags from the pet store. If you drive them around in the tank, they could be fine, or they could get their brains bashed on the glass when you stop fast.

Is that like when you go on the alien spinning saucer thing at the fair after having too many drinks?

You can actually use Zip-Loc type bags if you want.

It's a pretty bad idea to move a glass tank with water in it.
