Rainbowfish

I just aquired 3 Boeseman's Rainbowfish and they're just awesome, I was wondering what other rainbowfish would work in a tank with tetras and small fish? I was at a person's house and they had small ones about 2 inches or less and they were bright blue does anyone know what kind they are?

I had some for a couple of days that came with a tank that I bought. My Serpae tetra were giving them a hard time as was my Gourami.

The black neons, cardinals and phantoms left them alone though.

Threadfin rainbows are small, blue and beautiful. I've heard they need live food. I suggest you get more of the boesmans to make more of school rather than mix them.

M. praecox are the brilliant dwarf blues you saw.

I've read that Threadfins should be in a species tank or atleast a tank with very passive fish, like maybe some Cories.

Those definitely sound like Praecox or Dwarf Neon Rainbows. Don't forget, Rainbows are schooling fish and 3 is not a school. I'd get a few more of them and leave it at that....or put some Praecox in another tank if you have one available that is around 30g or more. They need their swimming room.

O yes, I thought they were brilliant too! Until they ate my cardinals.

the little blue ones are as TOS said...M. Preacox.while threadfins are not blue;they are a beautiful little fish.i have had them for the past several years...right now mine are in with some swordtails and bushynose plecos..they all seem to be doing well together;but i would suggest that they be kept with very passive fish like JOM said.maybe some cardinal tetras and harlequin rasboras and cories.
