Default SAE becoming nasty...

Hi

My SAE is suddenly becoming a fin nipper. He is now about 3.5 inches. In a 10 Gallon with some white clouds. He already killed one last week and i noticed yesterday that two other have their tails severely nipped. This behavior is sudden. He used to just breifly chase them around. Now he is causing damage.

I am beginning to put together a 33G for these guys. I dont think that my white clouds will make it however.

What can i safely add to a 33G with a somewhat aggressive SAE?
I was thinking Harlequin Rasbora but now i am not so sure. Tiger Barbs will hold their own for sure but i dont like them all that much. What about Angels?

thanks for any suggestions.

Are you sure its an SAE and not a CAE or a flying fox? Check the water quality, too.

My SAEs did ok with angels in 55 for a while. The did get more of the food than the angels did, but the angels tried to kill them when they (angels) spawned and wouldn't let them come out to eat.

Yes, i am 100% positive that he is a True Siamese Algae Eater. I have had him for 3-4 years and only now is he becoming aggressive. Maybe because he is getting pretty big in size now. He is a beautiful specimen and i want to select the correct tank mates for him.

Can you use a tank separator? It would be a bit cramped until the 33 is ready, but the fish would very likely be fine and it is probably less stress than being nipped all the time.

A 10 gallon is a bit small for a SAE, also, they do best in schools. This could be why it's showing aggression.
