Default how big is tank?

neighbour went out and bought me a tank at a garage sale. It is way too long for my table and Ic an't even figure out how big it is. I used one formula and the LFS used anoth and we sure get differing numbers. All we agreeon is that it an odd size.
It is a Perfecto- measurements are 29.5 x 12.5 x17.5. We figure it is maybe a 25 or 28 gallon but are not sure. Have checked the Perfecto web site but they don't have it listed.
It is in a plastic frame and has an O'Dell canopy.
it seems pretty narrow to me- I thought a 30 gallon would be wider than 12 inches.

It's a tiny bit smaller than a standard 29 gallon tank, your capacity is actually 28 gallons.

I have a 29 gallon - 30"x12"x18" - so 28 gallons sounds about right

it is a 29 gallon tank..in the industry the round up to the nearest gallonage..the normal calculation would be 30 x 18 x 12 divided by 231 = 28.05,even though it really doesn't actually calculate out to 29 gallons;that is what it is within the industry.
and if you go into a shop looking for a hood or light for a 28 gallon tank, you won't find it.
