hey!! im back!! the guy who made this crazy post http://www.fishforums.com/forum/cich...ht=flower+horn lolz im sick and tired of playing games.. now im going back to my fish hobby.. now for the question:
My dad made me a pond around twice the size of a king size bed just to be honest its really big,my dad put koi and gold fish the usual stufss.. and some mollies in it, its 3 ft deep, and i cant keep up, there is no pump, the pond has black water i dont know why (duhh dirty), it has been 2 months now since the black water has been arround, but the koi didnt die, now, i didnt put plants because the koi is gonna eat it,im so pissed out, so i just leave it like that, its a bare pond so no rocks and no pump, now guys i want you to suggest on things that i need to do, i want my pond to be nice looking, i know you guys will tell meto put a pump, i already bought that but i didnt installed it yet, i need your answers, as many as possible with detailed pictures ex. water falls and stuff, and type of fishes to put and if you want plants in my pond tell me how the koi is not gona eat it, reply as many steps as posible cause im gona do it. by the way the design of the pond is rectangle. i hope you will post pictures that are taken from your ponds, encouraging words would be helpfull since i know how ugly my pond is, thanks guys hope you will help.

Theres entire sections of the hobby devoted to ponds so your answers may vary.
First I'd get the filter set up, a big bucket of lava rock with a hole at the bottom works, sort of like a wet dry filter. Second I'm unfamiliar with black water however green water is algae from nutrients and light. Some sort of shade will help with this however tree's will dump leaves into your pond, I never got far enough to solve this problem however lilly pads may cut down on sunlight while providing fish with much needed shade and keeping temperatures from rising. I would get filtration running asap, preferably with two pumps for redundancy however one will work. Until it's properly filtered keep the stocking to a bare minimum. |

Some good old enginuity should go a long ways. I used a plastic barrel with a hole at the bottom. I decided to keep all of the lava rock submerged so I made the hold smaller then what the pump was putting in then put a second hole up higher for over flow. If you did like a bio-ball system and went with the rocks not submerged the bacteria would be more efficient however I didn't take the time to try and get water flowing evenly so if thats your route then you'll have to figure out a way, some sort of diffusing system to spread the water out on top may work.
How powerful is your pump? I've heard that you want to turn out your pond at least twice every hour, that means a 200g pond should have a 400 gph pump. Still anything is better then nothing so I'd get at least something running now and get the bio load built up. I've also heard that barley will get rid of algae in a pond but I'm not sure if this is true. |

oww nice.. im doing it right now.. but it seems i cant figure what desing my water falls is,,, so that leaves me a hault, i got 2 pumps and its good enough for water circulation, since my pond is rectangle i duno where to put the falls and what kind of design im gona put, its really confusing.

If your in a state where the pond freezes over, there really isn't much other then koi or goldfish that will work.
Audzter, theres no real way for us to give you a diagram for your pond since every pond is different and alot of it is based off preference of what you would enjoy looking at. Placement isn't going to be extremely important for cirulation, just put it where you think it would look best. |

Pick a thread audzter, because I am going to delete one or the other. http://www.fishforums.com/forum/gold...rs-thanks.html You want help, yet you are not willing to do your own research. People give you help, yet you want nothing but pictures. Are you building a pond? Or just gathering Pictures?
