How Long

was woundering....How long can a tank go with out a Filter....I set up my 140g tank...and all the filters where running just fine...then they both just quit on me...I can't get new ones till next week

I do have a filter from my old 20g tank that still works

Dis the motors burn out or did you maybe just flip the breaker on the powerstrip? Whatkind of filters were they, maybe one of us has the same one and could give you pointers maybe? I would add that filter that you have and maybe add an airstone; and do daily water changes.
Can you take the filters back to the store? I would. Or maybe they have a guarentee on them?

unplug the filter and clean it. take out the propellor and clean it, put it back then try plugging it in. if its jammed it wont make any noise trying to go. mine got jammed up with duckweed and a malaysian trumpet snail wedged itself in there pretty good. took me a while to figure out what happened, I figured it would make a lot of noise if it was jammed.

I'd set up the 20 gallon filter and put all the filter media from the last one in there to build up a colony of bacteria.
