Paradise Fish Spawning

In my 55 gallon, my pair of Paradise Fish are acting a little bit like they might be thinking about spawning. The only problem is, I can't sex them. I know a sure sign with Paradise Fish is that the male has longer fins, and one of them does seem to have slightly longer fins, but it doesn't look that much different - not enough to decide between genders. One of the Paradise Fish is hiding a little more in a cave/under a large fake plant. I thought that maybe this was the female (because the male was being agressive because he was trying to spawn, then I concluded that it was unlikely because I realized that this was the one with slightly longer fins. Maybe they're both males, I wondered, because they both had relatively long fins, but then I realized that they would probably be fighting if they were (as Paradise Fish often do) and that they seemed to be courting a little. I guess they could both be females, but they have longer fins than I would think a female would have. Could they just be docile males (or just be fine with each other because they have a lot of room and there are no females around?). I'm perplexed! Any ideas?

They are both males, mine behave in exactly the same way. If I was you I would seperate them if you notice one becoming too aggressive over time.

I was starting to conclude that also, because I realized that one is a little more shy and when the other comes out he hides. I guess I can't breed them now

Oh well, maybe I'll get them some girlfriends once I put them in separate tanks, lol

I think that you should put them in my 2 and 1/2 gallon tank. I am willing to sell it to you for $15. lol

If I was you I would seperate them if you notice one becoming too aggressive over time. __________________ If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded: Serrasalmus Tetradon(figure eights and dwarfs are the exception). I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families: Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers.
