While lugging around a 29g earlier for a deep cleaning (nned it to spawn), I heard a crack and the bottom plastic frame became loose in one spot in the front (right where I was holding it, in the middle, couple of inches only). It's not broken off or anything, but it can be moved away from the glass at that part. Is it still safe or will it be unstable now, or worse leak? I haven't tried to refill it yet. The silicone appears to be intact as well.
Kinda like this: |_______________| <-- bottom front of tank

It should be ok, especiall for spawning. A little neatly added silicone should do the job. The frame is more to keep the weight balanced than holding the weight in general.

As simpte said, not a serious problem, a bit of sylicon should do the trick. I've had more tanks break than I've broke a nail.

If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded: Serrasalmus Tetradon(figure eights and dwarfs are the exception). I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families: Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers. |

When in doubt fill the tank and let it sit overnight on a stand above pavement. If you have any leaking it will be easy to spot on the concrete.
