for starters, we want to upgrade our 10 gallon tank to a 29 gallon. (Wish that we could go much much bigger, but we cannot at the moment, not until we move later this year) anyways, this weekend we will be driving all over creation looking for a nice setup. we already have a whisper 30 that we can use we just have to take it off out other tank, all we need is a heater. How many watts does a 29 gallon really need? When we switch the filter, will it be alright if we dont do a gravel vac on the tank that we are getting it from to save the good/bad bacteria since we are removing the filter and then replacing it. we will be taking the gravel from the ten and putting that into the 29 gallon. we also have two fish that will be going from the ten to the 29, so we are trying to come up with what is best for them. I hope you can understand because my mind is running faster that my typing!

I use my 10G heater on my 29g cause my 29g died!
I would transfer the gravel and put new water in, 2 fish should be able to survive.

100 watt heater would be about what you would need. Although summer is comming and many people start trying to figure out how to cool their tanks during the summer so you may be fine for a few months.
You will also be fine not vaccuming the gravel if you are moving but it is also a good time to clear out the excess wast at that time. You would be suprised how much waste there is in a tank. esp when you tear one down. |
