Default Cories

So i've had 5 cories, one passed on a few days ago, and it seemed like he knew it and the others did as well, because prior to his or her passing, he stayed at one end of the tank and others at the other end. I wish i had known he was going to go, i checked on him before i went to work one night and he was breathing moving a little, but when i got home i was going to quarantine him and he had gone. I don't know much about sicknesses, and I guess i have to take my losses, though now there is one by himself with the others at the end, oh noes =[.

Anyways my concern was not on the dying fish, well, it is, but thats not what this one is about. Do they become more active with more in there? Because they kind of sit around all day and move sometimes swiftly to the top of the tank and float playfully to the ground. Because i was going to go get more, but if they just kind of laze around all day i'll spend my money on some other fish. Granted, i love my cory, and I want to get a few more, but i may splurge for another 5 or 6 if they become more active, lol.

So, rambling aside, i needz teh halpz.

I can help you out with this, but I need a good bit more information:

How large is the tank?
Were any of the cories newly introduced in the last few weeks?
Were there any lacerations, spots, or fungus on the sick cory?
How long has the tank been cycled and running?
Ph, temperature, and ammonia would be nice to know as well.

Depending on how large your tank is cories do best in groups of 5 or more. You can usually keep 5 in a 10 gallon and then if you have a larger tank you can keep a larger group.

How large is the tank?20 high
Were any of the cories newly introduced in the last few weeks?i got all of them about a month ago, maybe 3 weeks
Were there any lacerations, spots, or fungus on the sick cory?I was looking for spots and anything unusual, the biggest thing was it was pretty pale, and when i looked at it out of water the tail looked different, but it could have been because it was standing or flowing in the water
How long has the tank been cycled and running? Tank has been running about 4-5 weeks, and I used stability in it in the beginning of week 2 maybe a few days prior, and i put the cory in about 5 days after i started using stability. So since then.
Ph, temperature, and ammonia would be nice to know as well. pH is 7.5ish, temp is 78 F, and don't know the ammonia

Get a test kit. can't have fish without a test kit cause you don't know what is going on in the water chemical wise. Make sure the test kit can test for Ammonia, N2, and N3.

It sounds to me that the tank may not have been fully cycled. You also need to test for ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites.
