I'm looking something bigger to put to my 24 gal. By bigger I just mean something not shoaling.
Tank is planted, water is very soft, pH 6.5, temperature 24-25C. With current stocking nitrate has stayed 0. Fishes: 6 panda corys, 4 "otos" (Hisonotus leucofrenatus), 8 Danio choprae and Dario dario + 2 amanos. Any ideas? Danios are very fussy so new fish can't be too shy. And it must leave cories alone, and Dario of course too. Do I end up with nothing with these requirements? |

There is such a wide selection, if it was my tank, I would add a few medium sized barbs or some dwarf south American cichlids, there is suprisingly a lot you can do with a setup like yours.

If you have a big enough tank with enough hiding places, pH of around 7, you can keep virtually any fish together as long as all the fish are around the same size and these two groups of fish are avioded: Serrasalmus Tetradon(figure eights and dwarfs are the exception). I keep a successful community of fish in a 4 foot tank including the following families: Cichlids, tetras, loaches, gouramis, barbs, rainbows, livebearers, killiefish, catfish, puffers. |

I agree. A pair or trio of apistos (depending on species) would look nice.

Thanks for suggestions.
Apistos etc.: I'm not shure how they will get along with Dario. Dario is quite territorial but also tiny. Cichlids might also want to eat amanos. Gouramies: Wouldn't they stress because of hyperactive danios? Hmm... what species would be nice...? I already have licorice, chocolate and sparkling gouramies. I've also had dwarf gouramies - didn't like them for some reason. "There is such a wide selection". Is there, then I must be difficult person. Here's my Dario:

Nice Dario, well at the end of the day it's up to you, what you've suggested sounds fine to me, good luck.
