I recently saw a book advertised with a title something like: What every aquarium lover should know but no petstore will tell. It claims to tell you about how you can make your aquarium self running and almost never have to do any maintenence on it. And how pet stores teach you how to be dependent on them so they get return business. Has anyone ever read it or know what i am talking about? I tried searching for it again and cannot find it so im sorry for not being able to direct you to it but i was wandering if anyone had an opinion on it.

If you find it please share.
I searched BandN but all I found was Aquarium Life: Practical Guide for the Aquarium Lover, is this it?

sounds like one of those to good to be true deals... Where they just tell you everything everyone else already knows. If there were secrets you would be able to find them on the internet.

Yeah, I agree with Ownager. I read the advert for this thing, and thought, well, he probably explains the nitrogen cycle well, and tells you to add only a few fish at first, and then only gradually add them alter. This is his amazing secret for preventing fish deaths. My amazing secret for preventing fish deaths is to do this, plus add floating hornwort.
As far as having a very low-maintenance tank, well, it would be very hard to beat Diana Walstad's methods. Buy Ecology of the planted Aquarium if you want a nice-looking, almost maintenance free, planted tank. |

Anytime I see someone selling somthing without giving away even a slight idea of what the true item is. I avoid it. I know some day I will probably pass on a neverending power source or a 100inch tv for only100 bucks but when that happens I guess it will be my loss.
