I have a question.......
I was wondering, are female rainbowfish aggressive? cause the one in my tank seems to chase my balloon mollies all the time, and if she is trying to kill them she has to go.. Also are they schooling fish? I think she is a rainbow, a dull female, i would take a picture but.. right now my tank is cloudy.. yes i know why it is, its cause of the rice, from the snail cookies... i have to get the rice out and the only way to do that is remove the gravel.. |

Rainbowfish are generally peaceful (a few species are a little more agressive but not agressive as lets say tiger barbs). They are schooling fish which could be why your one is harassing the mollies. Juveniles very rarely show their true colors and males only will when they are the dominant one. They need lots of open spaces as they love to swim.

I had a few australian rainbow fish in my community tank with my guppies, mollies, platys, and big bellied mollie. Those things chased around my little male guppy so much is got scared. It went to go hide in the cave with the pleco and was so scared i could see it shaking. Then when the guppy hid the rainbowfish would chase the mollies and etc...
I went ahead and returned those fish to the LFS and everybody was happy. Including the guppy that stopped shaking and is back to his old ways again. If you read up on australian rainbow fish in general, they are actually "semi-aggressive" fish. I dont know why the LFS puts them with the community fish. |

I think that is what mine is, she chases my guppies and my balloon mollies and has eaten one of my guppies tails, i dont know what to do with her, if i put her in my moms 55 gallon my pacu will eat her ( trying to find him a new home, he grew faster then i expected him too... )
Also are they just top dwelling fish cause i always see her at the top sometimes in the middle but mostly at the top, |

Well if the Pacu eats her at least its a natural way to go.
