Default Personality swap

Alright, I'm confused. The other day, I went to the LFS to get a couple new fish, since a couple others died and I had more room again. I've started to get interested in Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami, so I got one of those. I have read that they're kinda like Betttas, in that you have to keep only one male or they'll compete for tank territory and mates, and all that junk. So, I just got one.
Then I wanted a little fish to take care of the bottom of my tank (preferably so I don't have to vacuum 2-3 times a week like I have been, and go back to just once a week), so they suggested an albino Cory cat. My tank is BARE! I have a few sprigs of plants, and I took out the gravel because the snails kept hiding in it and I could never clear them all out (I'm still finding some ever so often!).
Anyhoo, the person at the LFS said the cory cat would come out of hiding, do some cleaning, and go back in the rocks/cave/whatever. So I said "Oh, I better put my cave thing back in" (snails love to hide in that, too...augh!).

But! My gourami is always hiding, and the cory cat is out and about to swim EVERYWHERE (he's more active than my zebras!). This is weird...it's like they switched roles LOL

mine is like a dog... super loveable and always swimming the front of the tank. My cories are a bit shy, but not drastic.

I had two gouami's and the one that remains constantly picked on the less aggressive, so I returned the less aggressive. However I have heard you can have the red, honey, cinamom or other variety of dwarfs together without conflict.

Add some stress coat to the tank, maybe the gourami is stessing over his surroundings... what do you feed them. maybe he isn't interested in the diet and a new one would make him more active? Just ideas.

You should have more than one cory. They are schoolers. A group of at least three would be better.
