coconut cave

were trying out the coconut cave listed in the diy section. We've boiled the past 2 hours because it says boil the s*&@ out of it. The water is still turning brown, is this ok? or are we supposed to boil it until the water is not brown? thanks in advance

thats odd. I replaced the water every 20 mins when it was boiling. the water was just slightly yellowish when I stopped boiling it. if you do regular weekly water changes it shouldn't tint your water.

I can't actually help you with your question, but if it does not work out, you can buy the finished cave at Petsmart in the reptile section for just a few bucks. I have used four of those caves for over one year and they are holding up great. One of my plecos and one CAE have taken one each of them as their "homes".

The advantage of this is that if it does turn your water brown it will actually lower your pH naturally. Somthing many people try to do with chemicals.
