I have a build up of calicum on some of my tank parts is it ok to use some calicum remover like clr. Wash it off with clean water and put it back on my tank or is there some chemical that could mess it up.

Well, you can try to remove the calcium with some remover, but so far I haven't found any calcium removing product that actually works. Just be very careful not to break anything while you scrape & scrub, and be extremely sure to clean off every trace of the remover when you're finished.

Vinegar is a safe way to clean calcium. With a soft, but stiff bristle brush. I actually use a Black ad Decker scumbuster for calcium cleanup, and it works pretty good, though the calcium never really is removed completly. Blix, that's a good point on the dishwasher. I ran stuff through before without soap, and then i remembered the rinse agent! Fortunately I shutt it off in time.

If you cant see it when it is running other than just giving it a cleaning to get the big stuff off I wouldnt work to hard at trying to remove it all. It will come back anyway.
