Water changes

Hello, i currently have a 30g tank with assorted community fish. When i do water changes, i syphon out about 20% of the water and try to get out some of the exess waste at the bottom. Then i have to refill it with cleaned milkjugs. This is kinda tedious, so i was wondering if any of you have a more eficient way of doing it. I thought maybe ataching a hose to the sink to refill it, but idk if its possible. So if you have any clever ideas on making water changes easy and dry, please post here.

if you want a hookup to the sink, get a python gravel vac. works wonders

So that just clamps right on? Is the hose a decent lenght to reach ur tank?

I 2nd the python, get only the python and anyone who says u can DIY a add on, i tried it,. the DIY add on to extend hose sucks! it keeps kinking and for $12 for 20ft extension is worth it. U can buy it in 25ft, 50ft, 75ft, and they sell 20ft extensions i believe, simply unscrew the part on end of faucet and screw python on and presto! i leave the adapter in 24/7 doesn't bother me any. If u want a cheap one, and have a petsmart near by, go to www.petsmart.com just type in PYTHON, and print out page and pick out one at Petsmart store ask for manager to interenet price match their store. And it's good deal. Think wal-mart is $30 for one 25ft one.

how do you use water conditioner with a python?

They are cases where if u live in house or old apt or something that micro bubbles will become a problem in the winter or u have water supply that uses chlormaines, then can't really use python as time & water conditioners take these out. But just regular water with chlorine or whatever, I just add it right before water goes into tank i never measure just shoot a bunch in, so cheap here lol, i pretty much have water temp right on as well.

yup, i put the water conitioner right into the tank before i add the water. The dechlorinator starts working instantly anyways.
